The Tamaritans has been Plymouth's most active theatre group for more than 75 years. A history of the Company has now been written by Chris Hunt, a long time member, past Chairman and a Vice President. The account is a personal one, written from the recollections and extensive research of Chris Hunt himself, and is not an "official" history, and therefore the Management Committee are not directly responsible for the contents.
The book is a laminated paperback, with attractive cover illustrations, a list of all public productions and two fascinating memoirs of the Company's activities, before and during World War 2, written by Irene Jeffery. Irene, who died in 2008 at the age of 103, was a gifted playwright, actress and producer. A number of her plays were produced on BBC Radio.
If you would like to buy a copy of the book, get in touch with General Enquiries and you will be contacted with details of how to buy the book. The book costs £6.00 plus £1.50 p&p.
Profits from sales of the book are donated to The Tamaritans Theatre Company, which is a registered charity.
