The Radio Play

6th November 2009 What a fantastic evening that was! A huge turn-out (estimates put the audience at more than 35) watched Hilary Walker's play "The Radio Play" with obvious delight. It was performed expertly as a "read performance" by an excellent cast, and afterwards a wonderful array of food and drink made for an extremely successful night. As our Chairman said, let's hope it is the first of many such evenings. See cast and photos here.

Halloween Quiz Night

31st October 2009 An excellent night was had by all (especially your webmistress who was on the winning team :-)  A good turn out and a brilliant set of questions from Helen and Kevin - a huge thank you to you both.

Outside Edge - Auditions

22nd October 2009 Auditions were held last night and all of the parts had at least one contender. The cast list will be published as soon as possible.

Edgcumbe Theatre -  Devonport High School for Boys, Stoke

30th September 2009 The Tamaritans’ spring production will be at a new venue!  Our first play in the fine new Edgcumbe Theatre, which is at the Devonport High School for Boys in Paradise Road, will be Outside Edge by Richard Harris, which will be staged from 24th to 27th March 1010.  Auditions for this highly successful comedy will be held at Manor Gardens at 7.30pm on Thursday 22nd October 2009.

The play will be directed by Noel Preston-Jones, and we hope that this will mark the start of a new and fruitful relationship between the Tamaritans and the Edgcumbe Theatre, which has an excellent auditorium and – would you believe it – free parking for patrons!

The Birthday Party - Auditions

7th August 2009 Auditions were held last night and proved very popular with all of the 6 parts having several contenders. The bad news is that many people will be disappointed but the good news is that the Director Niall Clinton is spoilt for choice and able to choose a well matched cast. The cast list will be published as soon as possible.

Moonlight and Magnolias - Performances received well

1st August 2009 All of the performances went extremely well and audiences went away enthusing on what they had seen. A very successful First for the Tamaritans - first amateur production of Moonlight and Magnolias.

21st July 2009 The opening performance went extremely well and all is set fair for a great run. On until Saturday, with a Saturday matinee as well

Moonlight and Magnolias - Rehearsals Continue

3rd July 2009 Moving into the last couple of weeks of rehearsals. The performances are developing well and the set and costumes look fantastic.

Moonlight and Magnolias - Rehearsals Going Well

23rd June 2009 Rehearsals are going very well. Everyone is now "books down" - ie the cast know their lines, and the cast and crew are exploring the play and honing the performance.

Jan 2010 play announced

23rd April 2009 The production for January 2010 will be The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter. Read more about it here. Niall Clinton, Director, will be announcing the date for auditions, at which all those interested in being involved with the production are welcome. Membership of the Tamaritans is required, either for the single production or annual membership.

Cash on Delivery goes off successfully

2nd April 2009 The performances went well and were very well received by good audiences on each occasion. Hordes turned out to help with get-in/out and a huge thankyou to you all - couldn\'t do it without you.

Cash on Delivery - performance week

24th March 2009 The set, cast and crew of "Cash on Delivery" have now transferred from Manor Gardens to the Athenaeum Theatre, and the technical dress rehearsal was last night. It went suspiciously well :-) Dress Rehearsal tonight and then Opening Night is Wednesday 25th March 2009 at 7.30pm. Photos from the tech dress here.


7th Mar 2009 Rehearsals continue. The set is coming along well and looking great. There\'s two full weeks of rehearsals to go now before we get out of Manor Gardens and get in to the Ath.


27th Feb 2009 Cash on Delivery has had 9 rehearsals now and is going well amid much laughter, as it is hilarious!
